"Learn Today Lead Tomorrow"

Émilie, Director of Studies at Valbonne, France

Director of Studies at Valbonne, France

Hello, my name is Emilie. I’ve been working for LINES since 2015, as a French teacher first and an academic manager now.

Working for LINES in Valbonne is the best part of my summer: every member of the team is fully dedicated to the learning and well-being of the students and does their best to work in a motivating and caring atmosphere. Watching the students improve day by day while having fun is the reason we live for and we enjoy every step of the way. It’s very rewarding for everyone!

Arno, General Manager Assistant

My name is Arno and I am the son of Dirk and his assistant. I have been at LINES for more than 15 years, as a student, a residential councilor, a member of the office and now as a full-time employee.

I studied International Business at the University of Maastricht. I love traveling and since my childhood I have lived in different countries such as England and Spain. I speak three languages and always seek to learn new ones. I also play basketball where I learned that individual efforts are not always enough if you are not well surrounded!

I think LINES is the best choice for a teenager to learn a language, do sports and discover new places while having fun. As I have been there so many times, I can say that it is more than a summer camp, it is a life’s experience!

Catherine, Academic Coordinator in UK

Hello! My name is Catherine and I am in charge of the development of LINES Academic Program. I am British, from a beautiful town on the south coast of England, in Cornwall and it’s one of my favourite places to be!

I first started working for LINES as an English teacher in 2009, I was promoted to Senior teacher in 2012 and Director of Studies in 2017. Downe House is a truly stunning campus setting, which combined with the LINES Languages education programme and fantastic team has contributed to the enthusiasm of both staff and students alike to return year after year.

Dirk, CEO of LINES

Hi, I was born in the heart of Africa (Burundi). I was the youngest child of a family of 4. I have been married for more than 30 years and I am a father of three.

I studied languages and I am fluent in 4 languages. After 6 years of teaching and after working in the private language sector for nearly 10 years, I decided to launch LINES in 1995.

I am a former volleyball player and coach, I am a strong believer of team work.

My goal is to offer the ultimate language course for teenagers. “Work hard, Play hard!” are my leitmotiv!

Maud, Office Manager

Hello, my name is Maud. I am responsible of the Booking Department and Customer Service at LINES. I have been working for LINES since 2006. I have a degree in translation and audiovisual translation. I am Belgian and live in Belgium with my companion and 2 children.

I know LINES from both sides as I was a summer student there when I was 17.

Cindel, Psychological Skills Program Advisor

My name is Cindel. I am an Educational Psychologist (MSc) and Teacher of English (BEd). For the past six summers I have worked for LINES in Downe House. I have been a teacher, a Senior teacher, and an Academic Assistant.

Because of my background as an educational psychologist I have taught students with learning disabilities and I have given workshops at LINES to improve the lesson quality for all students. To help students gain psychological, social, management and entrepreneurial skills I have set up a Skills program for LINES. This program’s aim is to give LINES’ students knowledge about and practice these skills in a safe environment guided by professionals.

Luke, Centre Manager at Queenswood, UK

Luke

Centre Manager at Queenswood, UK

My name is Luke. I’ve been working with LINES now for over 5 years, and I have progressed through the organisation from Teacher to Centre Manager in Queenswood. I have enjoyed every moment of my time with LINES and watching the students have fun, make friends and improve their English skills has been very rewarding.

Having left my previous role as Account Director in an Advertising Agency, I decided to take a rather dramatic career change, and trained to be a teacher. I have been teaching now for over 12 years, a career that has taken me to live and work in South America, Asia and Europe but I have now made the beautiful Andalusian capital Sevilla my home with my amazing wife and gorgeous little baby Emilia.
